NEW Band Director at The Lab!

Please welcome Mr. Safiyy Ra'oof to the Lab School!

Mr. Safiyy Ra’oof, is a graduate of Southern University, in Baton Rouge, LA, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. His aspiration to lead started from his high school experience at McMain Magnet High School in New Orleans, LA as one of the directors for the Baton Rouge All Star Marching Band. Mr. Ra’oof composed, wrote and arranged levels of music for concert performances, jazz ensembles and the community showcase of the super juke box, "The Purple Marching Machine Band." He is at the forefront of his career and his bands have run neck to neck with the surrounding area bands.

As the Director of Bands for the past six years at Jeanerette High School in Jeanerette, LA, Mr. Ra'oof repeatedly received first place and Grand Champion awards, as well as being recognized as one of the state’s best marching bands in Louisiana. Recently, Mr. Ra’oof and the Jeanerette HS Concert Band performed at the LMEA District lll Large Ensemble Festival, receiving awards of excellence.

His social and professional affiliations include: Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc;, Music Educators National Conference, Southwest Louisiana Band Directors’’ Association and Louisiana Music Educators Association.
